It's time for a new release, “Wait And See”! It will be on all the streaming services May 25th, but it's available on our site NOW. 

As always, we have followed no rules whatsoever and have shuffled spots around, as Steve handles drums, his usual, but John focuses on the low end this time around, cutting the bass track, and letting me have fun with the rest! 

As we release this song, John's Sidville Studio is being refurbished with significant new gear and we can't wait to hear the results in the future! 

We have also decided that we don't like what the streaming services do to the sound of our mixes, so we will now also offer free Master Recording-quality streaming AND downloads of ALL of our songs right on our website. 

PLUS, we have lowered the prices in our Merch store, because NO ONE is dropping prices for music fans these days, and we like to break rules, as I mentioned. Spread the word, thank you for your support, and we hope this release is a great start to everyone's summer season!

It's been a while, how the Hell are ya?

Since my last post, we've recorded TWO new singles. One was a sudden inspiration I had, and we banged it out pretty quickly, with little fanfare. It's called “You Haven't Been Yourself”, and we got it out there, but didn't do our usual marketing, “Limited Edition” merchandise, etc. So I will make up for that now by adding items to our Store, so you can catch up on your collection.  It's a very cool track; Our friend Chris Costa loaned us a big fat John-Bonham-style Ludwig drum kit to make it SHAKE. And shake, it does. Our apologies to your neighbors.

The second single… well, that's something else entirely. 

Since we never stick to any one style or format, it would be hard to say it's a “departure” for us. But it is. I'm finally getting Jetlag Audio back up and running in its new location, with many new sonic additions now available to us. 

We tend to labor over these songs pretty long and hard, but this one takes the goddamned cake. We think it was worth it, and we hope you agree. It's called “Energy”, and it's about the idea that everyone carries an energy that affects the people they meet, for better or worse. Friends, lovers, enemies… pick any two.

Spoiler alert, I'm not the hero in this one. :(

There's an old phrase, “Life gets in the way”. Or, “Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans”. Whichever flavor you prefer, A Reason For Mondays now stands as proof positive that the phenomenon is real. In 2022, my wife and I decided that living in an HOA neighborhood here in Las Vegas had lost its lustre. New people moving into the area had infiltrated our previously chill HOA and instituted new rules that we couldn't live with (No washing of cars in driveways? I'm out!). So we made a HUGE change, and moved out into historic “Old Vegas”, which is, admittedly, the ghetto, out in east Las Vegas. We bought a VERY cool old property, a 1966 Archibald Quincy Jones-designed midcentury modern house in need of MASSIVE rehab. (He's the guy that designed all those amazing Eichler homes). It's on the first fairway of a golf course, so if you've seen that scene in “Casino” where the Cessna airplane runs out of gas and lands in Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal's backyard… yup, that's where we live.

Unfortunately, that took my studio, Jetlag Audio, out of commission for over a year. And that's what we use to make our music. Building a new studio from scratch took a lot of money and a lot of time and brain juice, in addition to what it's taken to get our house into livable condition.

The good news is that we are back, and we have something cool coming very soon. Make sure you have signed up for our Mailing List here, and are following us on Facebook, so you hear the details ASAP. We know it's been a while, so we made sure to craft something that would be worth the wait!

Our new single “Telling The Truth” is finally ready! And what better day to release it than a holiday when lying is meant to be fun?  So, in 2 weeks, on Friday, April 1st, April Fool’s Day, you will be able to stream or download it on our website (www.areasonformondays.com) and all the usual outlets, then CRANK IT UP. Because this one is meant to be played LOUD. Our biggest rule is “There ain’t no rules”, so we ALWAYS take great strides to make sure each new song we release breaks new ground for us, we aren’t happy conforming to any one style. And this song DEFINITELY does THAT. Be sure you blast the correct version, CLEAN, or EXPLICIT, so you don’t scar any nearby children for life. Just because they’ve heard you use that language when you have trouble opening a pickle jar doesn’t mean we want to contribute to their later life of crime.

Now, we are on to the next one! Steve and John have cut some basic rehearsal drums and guitars, we will now tinker and weld and cut and shape it into a song we can track soon! Check out the video on this page for a little taste of what's to come!

FINALLY! Our new single "Same Girl" is coming on Monday, January 17th! It was Steve's idea to release on a Monday, and we may end up making that a habit, since it's so appropriate! It will be available to stream or purchase on our website (recommended, since all proceeds go to charity), and also on all the popular platforms: iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon, iHeart Radio, Deezer, your Mom's Zune, etc.

“Don’t call it a ‘Reboot’…!”  This one’s been around for a while, and here’s the story behind it: 

I wrote this song 30 years ago, when the three of us were in the band Felony. I brought the demo cassette to rehearsal one day, the band immediately made it their own, each member put their unique stamp on it, and it was a great success with our audience. But I had always thought it would be fun to record it myself sometime, and do it the way I originally heard it in my head back then. Well, it only took three decades, but it’s finally here. And what a great alignment of the planets to be recording it with John and Steve, we had a blast with this one. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

It's that time again, a new single being readied, and I have to choose a vocal microphone that works well for the particular song. I bought this Slate ML-1 / VMS-1 modeling microphone system years ago, just as a goof, to see what all the hubbub was about. I have a collection of their "virtual microphone" software to go along with it, it is advertised as being able to copy the sound of many classic mic's, but I've never used it, as I've acquired much nicer microphones since then. Well, I think it's time to break this thing out of the box and take it for a spin. Sting, Jon Anderson, and even Snoop Dogg say it's cool. I guess you'll all hear for yourselves soon! One more reason to anxiously await our new single, coming sooner than you think!

OK, so THAT was exciting! We released our debut single "King Of Nothing" last week, and we'd like to thank all of you who took the time to check it out and leave comments on social media, etc. We had great fun doing that track, but this is no time to rest on our laurels - what's next? Well, we're planning something very special, and it will especially resonate with people who know our work from earlier collaborations. That's all I can say for now. Stay tuned!

So, we release our first single, "King Of Nothing" on Thanksgiving (November 25 here in the U.S.A.), which is the day after tomorrow. It's fitting that we chose a holiday, because I currently feel like a parent who can't wait to give their child a gift.

That sounds presumptuous, so let me explain the two reasons I summon that simile right now: First of all, I really hope it is something you wanted or needed (even if you didn't know it). The second is because, like a parent rushing to assemble a bicycle at 2am, I hope we get everything up and running in time, and the freakin' wheels don't fall off when we roll it out!

Introducing a new band requires a lot of moving parts and planning, and we have been getting everything together for the better part of this past year. And it all comes down to Thanksgiving Day, when we finally see if we got it right, or if we missed a crucial detail. There's THREE "W"s in a Web address, right?
